How I became a Cognoscenti
I am a member of GA's message board, and an active responder (and sometimes trouble causer, but that's a story for another time...). I happened across a subject that is one of concern to many GA fans and bashers, and one that has people straddling both sides of the fence - some love the DPs, some hate them. It is a personal opinion, I suppose. One guy, TWK, who is rather anti-GA (and a sometimes reporter for dailysportscar.com) made a comment to fellow congoscenti member ray cer x about the Grand-Am faithful being ignorant as to the DPs problems. He referred to us as "The Grand-Am cognoscenti". Ray liked the name and began to see if more people would be part of this cognoscenti. I said I'm a fan of all series, including GA, and that I would gladly be a member of the cognoscenti. I am not the only one - I believe there is now 15 of us right now.
Racing Background
My dad has been a gearhead since he was a teenager, and it runs in the blood. I'm only 17, but I have lots of knowledge on racing and love to watch races, whether on TV or in person. I am a sportscar stalwart - Most sportscar series I like, with NASCAR being one of the few non sportscar series I like. (usually NASCAR guys actually race, and that's a good thing.) Grand-Am, JGTC (Japanese GTs) and Canada Touring GT Championship are personal favorites. A life-long friend, Malcolm Strachan was 2002 Canada GT runner-up. Some of his ideas run off on me, I suppose.
