How I became a Cognoscenti

I like Grand-Am's vision of what a sports car series should be, and I like the Daytona Prototypes, but I can't stand how they get slammed all the time. I decided to defend Grand-Am several times on their board and was invited to join the Cog. It is an honor and a privilege, no matter what other "sports car fans" say. Sports car racing rocks, it doesn't matter if it's Grand-Am or ALMS, as I like them both. I guess I like Grand-Am a bit more, though.

Racing Background

I grew up in a motorsports family that raced D.I.R.T. modifieds in the Northeast, then moved to NASCAR's Busch Grand National and Busch Grand National North series. Even though I was surrounded by stock cars, I still found IMSA's GTP cars way cool. I've been a sports car fan ever since the mid to late 80's and the original Nissan GTP car.

Through college I watched sprint cars, and fell in love with them, too. My stock car days were OVER after watching them. After college I started covering sprint car, midget, and silver crown racing in Central PA then Indiana for Hoseheads.com as a writer and photoagrapher.

Over this time, I still have always liked sports cars, but since I am always busy with other forms of racing, I've only been to 1 race, the SunBank 24 in the late 80's. I'm hoping to change that sometime soon!
