Cog-zio's Tidbits:
Porsche Parade 2005 Hershey, PA
By Derek Meluzio
The 2005 Porsche Parade was held in Hershey, PA. A very beautiful setting but even more importantly for me, it was about 30 minutes from my house! I have been to the Parade before but had to travel pretty far distances to get there. The closest one prior to 2005 was Lake Placid New York!
Here are just a few of the many great cars that were on display. It was special for me because my fathers car was part of the Historic Display. We met a lot of very nice people. Alois Ruf of Ruf Automobiles had his early production 901 on display right near us and during the course of the day we became pretty good friends. Sharing in the excitement of these beautiful cars and also sharing some neat stories. Trust me, he had some cool ones! I also got to get up close and personal with "Yellowbird". This is the Ruf Porsche that set the land speed record in 1987. Mr. Ruf, his wife, and his cars were the guests of honor at a display Monday night held at Europa Macchina. (A German car restoration facility just south of Hershey, PA). There I met many Ruf technicians and heard even more cool stories.
My father, brother-in-law, and myself were also lucky enough to spend some time with the owner of the oldest production 911, Jerry Seinfeld. He was very nice, polite, funny, and most of all, knowledgeable.
Here are some of the cars featured in the gallery:
