Razor sent these nostalgic photos in taken by his brother....

Jim Downing, 1979, Mid-Ohio. This shot is just a nostalgia thing. The reason I'm watching racing today is because of that car and driver. That's the middle of the esses at Mid-Ohio, 1979.

Start/Finish, Mid-Ohio, 1982. I scanned this shot because this gives a real good indication of the LACK of fans today compared to the early 80's. I have never seen that many people on the start/finish straight at MO (ALMS or GA) since that time. The picture was taken from atop a hauler in the paddock. Actually, you couldn't take that picture today because the paddock garages have been built where we were.

Turn 1, Mid-Ohio, 1982. The next shot freaked my brother and I out. This is from turn 1 at MO, looking at the pits before Jim Trueman started all the improvements at the track. Virtually none of what you see in that picture still exists, including the bridge, since it was torn down and rebuilt. My brother was shocked at how close to the track he had to have been to take this shot. By the way, that's Jim Downing again and he won the race that day.

Turn 5, Mid-Ohio, 1982. This last picture is of the esses at MO, with some of the new improvements in place. That hill with all the barrels is a "new" spectator mound, but the new concession tower and giant scoreboard aren't built yet.
